You are right on that Steve. I'm almost sure I saw an album cover of Leon standing with his boot in a chair behind that Model 1000. A funny story about Leon was told by Guitarist Extrordinair Tommy Crook recently. Around 1984 Leon came into the club where Tommy was playing, and Tommy, who recognized him as he came in decided to give a tribute to him on the next tune. Playing only with a drum machine, he adjusts the tempo to about double the norm, and tears into "Steel Guitar Rag". Crook being a lifelong admirer of Leon's said he was holding his breath the last half just to hang on. When the song ended Leon came up and introduced hiself and was asking "What was that tune" it sure sounded familiar. (let that be a lesson for us all who try to overplay)
